About

The Podcast

The Local Meta is a podcast about being a local player and covering Magic: The Gathering topics from that perspective. We believe that the local communities that Magic creates are what is responsible for the game’s continued success and want to help encourage those communities to grow and thrive.

The Hosts

Fletcher has been playing Magic since Mirage/5th edition and played off and on since. He didn’t start playing in stores until Dragon’s Maze and played seriously in standard during Theros/Khans of Tarkir standard with UW Heroic. His favorite formats are Legacy and Sealed. During the day he works in IT and by default fixes all the technical issues with the podcast.

John

John started collecting magic around Scourge/8th edition but only played for a few weeks because all mana down is a shit format. He started playing again around return to Ravnica when Fletcher got him back into it and started playing at stores/with a competitive mindset when M14 released.

His Claims to Fame are cashing his first ever “real” tournament with a top 64 at SCG Regionals and being the first person to ever win back to back Invitationals at Dungeon’s End.

By day he lifts heavy things for a living and by default is the one with actual game knowledge on the podcast.

He also has a mild God complex and finally gave Fletcher an “about me”.
